The Wood Badge experience is heightened by location. Returning to Philmont for Wood Badge was as much about training as it was about reconnecting to the spirit I had as a Scout when I took the first step on the trails at Philmont: Trek 13 in 1979. It is for the love of scouting and of the boys that are in and entering the program I want to be a better leader.
Vision: Provide fellow leaders and scouts a forward thinking vision of the scouting program and tools to enhance the scouting experience. Many Scouters have gone before us and we could benefit from the things they know. Leave a legacy that others can model and duplicate. ![]()

Mission: Leave a legacy of tools and experiences that deepen the values instilled by the BSA mission: Prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
Role: As Committee member and Chairman for Pack 287 I benefited from previous leaders who left a legacy to emulate and resources to utilize. Much of my predecessors’ legacies needed a way to be passed along. An electronic means of communication was just the ticket to attempt this link, more later. Additionally I was compelled to link my professional and personal lifes. As an architect I seek to preserve natural resources as a means to protect the love of scouting and the outdoors. |
